CatchPlate is now live in BETA, turning everyday car-plate spotting into a collection challenge. Capture a car plate with your phone, get an estimated value and add it to your digital collection. Keep discovering plates, grow your collections total estimated value and compete for a place at the top of the leaderboard.
The challenge is simple: Catch plates, collect value and play fair.
How Does CatchPlate Work?
Spotted an interesting car plate? Open CatchPlate and capture it using your phone. Make sure the registration number is clearly visible so the apps optical character recognition (OCR) can read it correctly.
Once the plate is recognised, CatchPlate provides an estimated value and lets you add it to your collection. Each valid catch contributes to your collections total estimated value, helping you climb the rankings.
It is not just about how many plates you catch. It is about the combined estimated value of your collection and a high-value catch could make a big difference.
Top Three Collectors Win Prizes
Each month, the top three players with the highest total estimated collection values will win prizes.
The prizes will change every month, bringing something different to compete for. Whether you are looking for memorable numbers, unusual combinations or a standout plate you happen to spot, every valid catch is a chance to strengthen your collection.
Real Plates. One Phone. Fair Play.
CatchPlate is built around discovering plates in the real world. To keep the competition fair, each account must use only one phone. Multiple-device logins are not allowed. Stick to the phone you first used to log in rather than switching between devices.
GPS must be enabled when capturing plates. Faking your GPS location or manipulating location information is not allowed.
Captures must also come from actual car plates not pictures displayed on another phone, a computer monitor or any other screen. Photographing a photo does not count as a catch.
Every Capture Is Reviewed by AI
Every single capture will be reviewed by an AI bot agent, with automated checks designed to detect screen photographs and other invalid submissions.
Clear captures matter. Blurry or unreadable plates, along with plates incorrectly read by the OCR, will be deleted and will not count towards your collection value or leaderboard position. A wrongly recognised plate is not a valid way to increase your score.
Before submitting, make sure the whole registration number is visible, in focus and readable. Always capture safely, and never use the app while driving.
