Malaysia GET number plates have made their appearance in Sarawak as theTeksi MADANI programme expands to the state. Displayed on a red Proton S70, the distinctive plates form part of a refreshed identity for taxis that brings traditional taxi services and e-hailing closer together.

The Sarawak rollout took place in Kuching on 28 August 2026, officiated by Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Hasbi Habibollah. It follows the programmes national launch at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur, on 3 July 2026, and its subsequent introduction in Seremban. This makes GET part of a wider Malaysian initiative, not a registration series created exclusively for Sarawak.

The idea goes beyond a change of lettering. The government is encouraging closer cooperation between taxi operators and e-hailing platforms so drivers can reach more passengers through digital bookings. The intended benefits include less time waiting for fares, more booking opportunities and stronger earning potential.

The plate uses embossed aluminium and the distinctive FE-Schrift lettering style. Its security features include a QR code, a laser-engraved serial number and a holographic strip. Although its overall design resembles Malaysia's EV plates, GET was introduced for Teksi MADANI vehicles it is not, by itself, an indication that a vehicle is electric.

For Malaysian number-plate enthusiasts, the key distinction is the purpose behind the letters. GET identifies the Teksi MADANI initiative rather than a Sarawak-only series. Its arrival in the state marks another stage in the national effort to modernise taxis, with the new plate serving as a visible sign of that change.
